Cellulite During Pregnancy - How to Avoid and Get Rid of Cellulite During Pregnancy

The baby's on it's way and you're over the moon! What a wonderful feeling...but, hang on, what's that? What's happened to your cute butt?
You were prepared for the cravings, the extra weight, the morning sickness, the nausea, and the extra bra size, but the cottage cheese thighs? No way! "Can I have a bump with no lumps, please?"
Cellulite during pregnancy is a fairly common affliction among most women and it can be a source of real frustration. People will often tell you not to worry about it, but that's easier said than done, right?
Fortunately there are simple steps that you can take to help avoid and reduce cellulite during pregnancy.
The cellulite itself is basically a build up of small pockets of fat that bulge against the skin, causing the classic "cottage cheese" or "orange peel" look.
There are varying ideas as to the causes of cellulite. Many doctors think it is due to excess weight, poor diet and / or lack of exercise. It can also be caused by water retention, poor circulation and possibly even toxins in your body. Hormonal changes can contribute to and worsen the effects of cellulite, and is therefore quite common among pregnant women, along with the sudden weight gain, and long periods of rest.
Since cellulite during pregnancy is a fairly common affliction there's no need for you to feel alone and self-critical. In many cases the problem of cellulite during pregnancy will reduce or virtually disappear after the baby is born, particularly if you maintain an active lifestyle with good diet and regular exercise.
While there are many creams, potions and gadgets on the market that have limited effect, there is no real "cure" for cellulite during pregnancy. It is a perfectly natural process as your body changes. However, small changes to your lifestyle, diet and practices can yield significant results in reducing your cellulite during pregnancy.
If you were active before your pregnancy and had managed to fight off the cellulite then it's likely that you'll manage to get back to your pre-pregnant body fairly quickly after giving birth. The chances of this can be increased by participating in regular exercise during pregnancy. Things like swimming, yoga, and even lifting weights and running can be enjoyed while pregnant. Always be sure to check with your doctor regarding exercise routines while pregnant, as every woman is different and you need to find the best solution for you and your baby.
Regular massage, once or twice a day, on the affected areas can do wonders to stimulate the circulation and blood flow and help disperse the fatty deposits responsible for the cellulite during pregnancy. Treat yourself to a day at the spa or for a specialised pregnancy massage, which will treat not only your cellulite but all your aches and pains too. Better yet get your hubby to give you a massage, as a wonderful way to end the day by spending some intimate time together. You can light some scented candles, put on some soft music, you know, really make a thing of it, and enjoy these few expectant months. You'll often find that this in itself will make you think less of the cellulite and more of the love between you, your partner and your baby.
