When pregnancy complications arise, the doctor often prescribes
bed rest, but we all know that what he's really prescribing is boredom.
So, there you are... pregnant, bored, worried, and crawling out of your
skin with restless frustration, and even though you know that this is
the very best thing that you can be doing for your baby, it still feels
more like a sentence, rather than a remedy.
There must be a solution, right? Of course there is. I've put together a shortlist of activities that you can choose from to keep your mind and body active, happy, and making the best of your bed rest. Don't let pregnancy complications get you down; you're not a prisoner, you're pregnant!
Activities to Keep You Sane, While on Bed Rest
· Shop Until You Pop!
Every woman loves to shop; it's embedded into our DNA, along with an inexplicable desire for chocolate and terry cloth robes. I say, buy both online and have your honey deliver them to your bedside! Who says that bed rest has to be a drag? Baby shop online!
· Netflix, You Complete Me.
Haven't you always just really wanted an excuse to curl up in bed and watch as much "Grey's Anatomy" as you could possibly stand? Well, here you go: your pregnancy complications just became your date night with doctors McDreamy and McSteamy; enjoy!
· Nothing Beats a Good Book.
While you're doing all of this exciting online shopping, you might as well surf past Amazon.com and have a few of those elusive books you've been dying to read sent to your doorstep. With technologies like the Kindle and the iPad, you can even buy and read instantly! You're in the 21st century pretty lady; can you imagine bed rest in the 1800s? Yikes!
· Twitter Me This, Twitter Me That!
Twitter is the social network that never sleeps and you'll be able to find other pregnant moms, going through the same kind of pregnancy complications, if you use the #pregnancy and #bedrest hashtags.
· Find Your Inner Facebook Queen!

· Speaking of Games...
There are a plethora of games online for you to play! If you're a gamer, then you already know that there's a variety of PC, Mac, and console games available, but if you're new to the medium, trust me, there's a whole world for you to explore and it would take you a lot longer than 9 months to do it!
· Blog Baby, Blog!
You'd be surprised how easy it is to start up a blog and start posting; obviously it's one of my favorite things and it can be one of yours! Start a blog about being a new mom, offer advice to other new moms, and put all of your posts up on Facebook to spread the word!
· Peruse the Pinterest!
Pinterest.com is making waves as the new hugely popular social network. I know, I know, there are so many, but this one is a gold mine for pregnant moms-to-be! Find unique recipes, baby room design ideas, and loads of fashion and beauty tips!
· Fitness... in Bed?
Yes! If you're an avid workout-aholic, then laying in bed all day will drive you batty, but there are ways around it. If you have the means, hire a physical therapist to come to your house and keep those muscles moving; or, you can check with your doctor to see if certain specialty niche DVDs like Bed Rest Fitness are an appropriate option for you.
There, you see? Your pregnancy complications don't need to turn your bed into a prison cell; they can easily provide you rest, relaxation, and plenty of time to stay busy with new and exciting endeavors. I guarantee that you'll have fun with these activities and you might even pick up a thing or two that you'll keep up with once your baby is born!
